This is really cool, and a neat idea for an app! But I didn't download it myself (I tried, but I don't have the latest iOS and I don't wanna update right now), and I could see it appealing only to a relatively "niche" audience. Personally, I'm happy using "lower-end" brands (though I think OPI's pretty good) for the most part – I don't pick a colour just because it looks like something more expensive. Who would even know?

What I think it would be useful for would be finding close matches for really unique polishes, like expensive Deborah Lippmann glitters or the like.

An app that I think really would be handy to have would be something that just simply collects hundreds and hundreds of swatches for you to browse – something I think SuperDuper probably already has the tools for, from this article's description, but wouldn't be nearly as easy to monetize. As you suggested, it seems highly likely to me that brands could work with the app to promote their colours as close matches (even if they aren't the closest), but it would really only be relevant if you're looking for a specific colour. But something that let you sort by colour instead of by brand would be great!

Hi, Katherine - Thanks for the kind words. We do include dupes for some really unique polishes like Christian Louboutin Scarabee II and MAC Mean & Green. We haven't yet tackled Deborah Lippmann polishes, but they're on our list! If you're not ready to upgrade your OS and download the app, you can follow us on instagram (@get_superduper) where we post a lot of dupes.

I like your suggestion of a cross-brand color search and will add it to our "big idea" list (which is long, trust me... we want to dupe and catalog the whole makeup universe!)

And, if you do have a chance to use the app, would love to know what you think.

      all the best, lk
