I wish that reports like these would convince local goverments to ease the many restrictions on Urban Gardens, in our area nothing may be in the front yard, no sideyard Gardens may be permitted but flowers are ok, and if in the backyard they must be hidden by a fence, if you do not own a fence they may be grown where others from the street may not see them. I think that leaves us with a 1x1 foot section and I can grow one Tomato plant. Last year I planted in kiddie pools along the neighbors fence.
