I am a man. I grew up in Cuba, a nation in which religious practice was often met with violence. I also grew up without a father for much of my life, meaning I was raised almost entirely by women. A combination of these factors lead to a strong dislike for the chauvinistic attitudes that my peers exhibited, expecially so when they used religion to justify it. In my childish way of thinking I thought that if I just studied science, that when I got to the U.S this attitude would end. Men of science are supposed to be the world's best right? Well, I have experienced a fair deal of sexism here in the U.S aswell, ranging from proffesors to fellow undergrads. Yet it goes both ways aswell, my friend is a humanities major and he's had quite a few girls make snarky comments about it. Honestly, this issue has bothered me so much thoughout my life that I tend to avoid it all together outside of the internet. And is a shame that Sir Hunt is one of these people which I so dislike.

It is very discouraging to see how prevalent this type of chauvinistic attitude is even in the scientific community where you would hope there would be no tolerance for such foolishness. It is a difficult problem to face and discuss, so I understand your discomfort. I'm glad that you don't share the same attitude.

      Welcome to Snapzu, BTW! :)

Thank you! Loving the site. And yeah, its quite sad to see these things. I am not afraid of confrontation, its just that the topics kills my sick vibe :b , and no one wants that.
