Yeah really. I lived in Malaysia for a few years. There were all kinds of critters in the jungle were I was working. I'd see guys casually pick up a cobra with a shovel to put it aside, but if they saw a centipede it caused pandemonium. They would go after it with a vengeance to make sure it was dead and the tail cut away from the body....they were big and fast.....
