Not weird at all! I learned to sing harmony from Beatles and CSNY records - a skill that has gotten me many gigs that my guitar playing alone would not have. Some of those bands/jobs led to lifelong friendships and some truly life-changing experiences. I'd call that a pretty direct influence on my life.
