Thirteen percent of U.S. adults say they don’t use the Internet
This new report examines how Americans feel about the Internet’s impact on their lives (90 percent of Internet users say the Internet has been a good thing for them), if it would be harder to give up the Internet or television (television won in 2006, but the Internet now has a commanding lead) and how the Internet impacts social relationships (it has made them stronger, most people say).

Absolutely amazing that 14% of americans can't read. It makes me wonder how the 1% who both can't read, but use the internet happen to manage.
I guess that's the folks who click on all the ads.
There's something to be said for that. When facebook introduced the image sharing feature, its popularity skyrocketed. Since then they've attempted to corner their core concept by buying out instagram and attempting to buy snapchat. It's incredible how some technologies may eventually abate the necessity of language.
I feel that's why vine is so popular. No need to read, but easy to get a message out. Helps people with low reading skills use social media.
I dunno about vine. I tried it and found it cluttered with garbage.
Well the demographic isn't quite your average humor. Its more of "ghetto humor" and "white female teenager" humor.
That's basically what I thought.
I've been calling instagram (and other pic sharing networks) the twitter for illiterate people. I just don't understand how so many people can waste so much of their time looking at pics.
Even those usually include memes and other pics with writing on them.
I'd love to see the stats more closely. I bet most of them are old people without computers or cellphones... or the people living out in the boonies where dial-up is the only choice.
If you looked at the stats in a major city it would be less than 1% i bet
13% dont know what they're missing.
What they don't know can't hurt them.. ignorance is bliss.
