    There's something to be said for that. When facebook introduced the image sharing feature, its popularity skyrocketed. Since then they've attempted to corner their core concept by buying out instagram and attempting to buy snapchat. It's incredible how some technologies may eventually abate the necessity of language.

      I feel that's why vine is so popular. No need to read, but easy to get a message out. Helps people with low reading skills use social media.

          Well the demographic isn't quite your average humor. Its more of "ghetto humor" and "white female teenager" humor.

      I've been calling instagram (and other pic sharing networks) the twitter for illiterate people. I just don't understand how so many people can waste so much of their time looking at pics.

        Even those usually include memes and other pics with writing on them.
