As an American leaving abroad I can't even start to express the embarrassment I feel when talking to work colleagues and people who I interact with every day. I don't even have enough time to explain that, not, we're not all ignorant, rude, racist,... many Americans are educated people who are perfectly capable of critical analysis and they see this for what it is: a blatant abuse of power.
