Wow this actually nicely explained why digg went with version 4. They gambled and lost.
Trying to be more like facebook is what contributed to their downfall too.

Excellent article! Just goes to show how things don't stay the same for long.
But I have recently arrived here at snapzu from Reddit. The one thing I really didn't like about Reddit was it was visually unappealing. But I did like the way it encouraged conversations. I preferred the visual nature of Stumbleupon though. I'm so glad I've found Snapzu, because it has the visual appeal of SU with the community of Reddit.
