What would it cost to build a Windows version of the new Mac Pro?
The new Mac Pro is the most powerful and flexible computer Apple has ever created, and it’s also extremely expensive — or is it? With a price tag that can climb up around $10,000, Apple’s latest enterprise workhorse clearly isn’t cheap. For businesses with a need for all that muscle, however, is that steep price justifiable or is there a premium “Apple tax” that companies will have to pay?

Interesting. I was looking for a 'hey! It's cheaper to build it yourself!' post, but was honestly surprised. Looks like for all the high end hardware they're putting in there, they've kept the pricing in like (if not slightly cheaper) than a comparably-equipped Windows system. That being said...
While the hardware is one thing, the software is light years different. If you end up building a top of the line Windows 8 machine, then you just have a really speedy turd to look forward to when you make it home. OSX is an amazing OS. While I was a little bitter with Apple for not choosing BeOS over neXTSTEP, they've really refined it over the past 13 years (wow. 13 years since Puma was released. I had no idea until I looked it up). Extremely durable, fast, and lots of apps (even games), with an interface even grandma can figure out pretty quickly.
