Dark Mode Might Not Be Coming To WhatsApp After All
If you’re part of the DarkModeEverything Movement (I just named it that) you’ll be disappointed to know that the much anticipated WhatsApp dark mode might not be coming to the application after all. After rumours started swirling confirming the existence of the feature we even got a closer look at what dark mode would look like but alas, the feature might have died a premature death. WABetaInfo (the authority on WhatsApp leaks) has said the company has stopped working on the feature.

The Facebook-owned service said users will now have an option to control who can add them to groups. Users can choose between Nobody, My Contacts (people whose phone numbers they have saved in their phone), and Everyone — assuming they don’t have any reservations about random people adding them to different groups.

Zuckerberg says merging WhatsApp, Instagram & Messenger chats will improve security, create an iMessage-like experience
A report last week suggested that Facebook is planning to combine Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram messaging into a single, unified platform. During Facebook’s Q4 2018 earnings call this evening, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that this is something the company is considering but said it’s not happening this year. Last week’s report explained that merging Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp threads, users would be able to easily communicate across platforms. Further, the change would broaden the availability of end-to-end encryption, something that Zuckerberg addressed on today’s call.

You’re not quitting Facebook if you still use Instagram and WhatsApp
So you’ve decided you’ve had enough with Facebook and its continuing antics, or all the times it’s been hacked this year, or perhaps you’re just sick of how much time you spend on it. You’ve finally made the plunge to delete it from your life. And after all, between apps like Instagram and WhatsApp, you’ve got all the social media you need. Sadly, I am here to burst your bubble, if you weren’t already aware: Instagram and WhatsApp are both run by Facebook.

Stop Using WhatsApp If You Care About Your Privacy
Privacy has always been a key feature and popular selling point for the messaging app WhatsApp. Company co-founder Jan Koum grew up in the Soviet Union under heavy government surveillance, and he promised to keep user data protected after Facebook acquired WhatsApp in 2014. Now, with Koum on the way out, it may be time to ditch WhatsApp before that promise leaves with him.
