Ex-boyfriend douses Tennessee teen in gasoline, threatens to 'cut her head off'
A Middle Tennessee girl's ex-boyfriend is behind bars after he and a friend allegedly tried to light her on fire. According to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, the 15-year-old girl's 17-year-old boyfriend sloshed gasoline on her, ignited a lighter, then threatened to burn her. Police say the boy forced himself into the Fall Creek Drive home and demanded $300 from her. He also threatened to "cut her head off" in front of her grandmother and a roommate, each also in the home at the time.

Mexico uses refrigerated trucks to store dead bodies as morgues fill
Mexican officials have promised to investigate after a truck filled with 157 bodies ended up dumped in a field as the country struggles with a record murder rate. The bodies were loaded on to the refrigerated lorry in Jalisco state after morgues ran out of space, before it ended up behind a residential building. Those living in the nearby city of Guadalajara eventually complained about the smell, prompting local officials to launch a probe into how it ended up there.

2 Americans wounded in Amsterdam stabbing
Two people who were wounded in a stabbing attack at the main railroad station in Amsterdam on Friday were both Americans, the U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands, Pete Hoekstra, said Saturday. They were visiting the country as tourists, and their identities have not been released. Both have been hospitalized, as has the attacker, who was shot by police.

Olympia 6-year-old ends up in hospital after standing up to bullies
A 6-year-old boy in Olympia was assaulted after he says he stood up to a group of kids who were bullying his friend. Carter and his mother Dana English left Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Friday afternoon after a morning surgery to repair a laceration in his eye. “It’s been hell,” Dana said. “I haven’t slept. I haven’t eaten. I can’t do anything. I can’t even leave his side.”

A study of circumstances and demographics attendant on attacks against refugees and immigrants in Germany has shown that Facebook use appears to be deeply linked with the frequency of violent acts. Far from being mere trolling or isolated expressions of controversial political opinions, spikes in anti-refugee posts were predictive of violent crimes against those groups.

Abused husband 'let down' before murder
A solicitor who was abused and murdered by his violent wife was let down by authorities, a report has found. Doctors failed to raise concerns about injuries to David Edwards, according to the domestic homicide review. Mr Edwards, 51, was stabbed through the heart by his wife Sharon at their home Chorley, Lancashire, just weeks after their Las Vegas wedding in 2015.

Simon Morris snapped when a man swiped his wallet outside an Uptown gasoline station on Friday morning. He chased the thief across the street and beat him to death with his fists and feet, New Orleans police said. Morris, 31, faces a count of manslaughter after the killing of a man identified in court records only by his first name, Edwin.

Based on research in the region, satellite imagery analysis and video analysis, this report found that both government forces and armed separatists have abused civilians in the western part of the country, displacing over 180,000 people since December 2017. Anglophone separatists have extorted, kidnapped and killed civilians, and prevented children from going to school. In response to protests and violence by armed separatists, government forces have killed civilians, used excessive force against demonstrators, tortured and mistreated suspected separatists and detainees, and burned hundreds of homes in several villages.

Chile: 3 Women Stabbed in March to Legalize Abortion
Three women in Chile were stabbed during a march to demand free and safe abortions by a group of hooded people who assaulted the protesters in Santiago. Around 40,000 women marched in the Chilean capital, carrying signs that read “the rich pay for it, the poor bleed out,” and “women marching until we are free.” During the march, different women’s movement announced they would present a bill to regulate the voluntary termination of a pregnancy within the first 14 weeks on all cases.

The rise in vehicle ramming attacks (VRAs) is as much the product of a virus-like spread of the act due to mass media coverage and online networks inspiring others to do likewise, as it is the rise of terrorist propaganda or a response to heightened security at high-profile targets. Researchers at the University of Kent and University of Copenhagen sought to understand why vehicle attacks, such as in Nice in July 2016, Finsbury Park in 2017 or Charlottesville also in 2017, have become so prominent in the last few years, having previously been a rarity.

Florida sheriff won't charge man in deadly "stand your ground" shooting over parking spot
Police say a Florida man will face no charges for shooting another man dead in a parking lot after an argument last week. Protesters gathered Sunday at the scene of the shooting in response. Last Thursday, Markeis McGlockton parked in a handicap spot with his girlfriend and three young kids before going inside a convenience store with his five-year-old son to buy snacks.

'Fourteen wounded' in German bus stabbing
Fourteen people have been wounded, some seriously, in a knife attack on a bus in the German city of Luebeck, local reports say. Police in the city, in the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein, said a suspect had been taken into custody. A police spokesperson confirmed that no one was killed in the attacks. An area surrounding a bus stop in the Kuecknitz neighbourhood was sealed off.

91-year-old man beaten with brick, told 'go back to Mexico'
Tears glistened on the black and purple bruises covering 91-year-old Rodolfo Rodriguez's face as he described being attacked by a group of people while going for a walk on the Fourth of July. "I can't walk anymore," Rodriguez said in Spanish. "I'm in so much pain."
