Boneworks Feels Like The First Next Generation VR Game

Boneworks from Stress Level Zero feels like the first game of PC VR’s second generation. The small team based in Los Angeles previously developed Duck Season and Hover Junkers. In Boneworks, they are applying years of refinement to physics, locomotion and object handling systems. You can feel the effort every second inside their virtual world. A recent demo of Boneworks from Stress Level Zero co-founder Brandon Laastch shows interactions tuned to a degree I’ve never seen before. First I held, loaded and fired a one-handed pistol. I dropped the gun, grabbed a bigger one, racked it with my other hand and started firing.

Turns Out Dark Souls II Speedrunner Not The Most Fun Guy To Have Around After All

“I’m going to be honest, I think we might just need to call this one,” says Adam Bishop, in a hushed conversation in the kitchen with his friend and party co-host Shawn Barker. “If I hear one more rant about the Souls Remaster, I’m going to leave. And this is my house.”

Fallout 76 fans are unhappy that Bethesda is adding 'pay-to-win' items

Fallout 76 players have hit back at Bethesda for a new Repair Kit feature that some believe goes against Bethesda's assurances that the game would not include play-to-win items. Scheduled to release in the weeks following Patch 8, there will be two types of Repair Kits available: Basic and Improved.

Report says Watch Dogs 3 will indeed be set in London

Yesterday, we reported how an easter egg in The Division 2 may have teased that the next Assassin's Creed game would be about Vikings, but interestingly, Kotaku's reporting of the same story indicates, explicitly, that the third instalment of Ubisoft's other big franchise, Watch Dogs, will be set in London.

Borderlands 3 Won't Have Co-op Players Fighting Over Loot

We still don’t know a ton of hard details about Borderlands 3, but one new piece of info that came alongside its release date reveal was a pretty significant change to the way loot drops while playing co-op. In Borderlands 3, every player will have their own loot drops that only they can see, a post on the PlayStation blog revealed. Traditionally, everyone can see all the loot in Borderlands, meaning other players could nab a tasty looking gun from you before you had the chance to pick it up, but that will be a thing of the past.

The limits of making licensed games

As easy as it is to poke fun at licensed games like the infamous Aliens: Colonial Marines, looking at them from a different perspective raises a fascinating question. The process of making a licensed game involves a maze of stakeholders, scheduling concerns, and legal manoeuvring. Why do good creative opportunities and good developers release projects that are less than the sum of their parts?

Prince Harry Calls To Ban Fortnite

There's a number of people that really dislike Fortnite for whatever reason and that's fine, but there's disliking Fortnite and there's giving a prepared speech where you call for it to be banned. That's exactly what the Duke of Sussex and sixth in the line of succession for the British throne did at a YMCA event in London. "It shouldn't be allowed," Harry told the crowd, referring to Fortnite. "Where is the benefit of having it in your household? It's created to addict, an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible and it's so irresponsible.

Making Video Games Is Not a Dream Job

The video game industry is richer than it has ever been. Its revenue in 2018 was $43.8 billion, a recent report estimated, thanks in large part to hugely popular games like Fortnite and Call of Duty. These record-breaking profits could have led one to think that the people who develop video games had it made. But then the blood bath began.

Remedy Was Working on Alan Wake 2 But "It Didn't Pan Out"

Remedy was once working on Alan Wake 2, but the project never made it off the ground. Talking to VG247 at PAX East, Remedy's director of communications, Thomas Puha, said “We were working on Alan Wake 2 years ago and it just didn’t pan out.” The studio has no plans to develop a sequel to its 2010 psychological horror game in the immediate future, either. “We’re just booked solid for the next couple of years, really,” Puha said.

No fooling: Reddit’s r/games goes silent for one day to call out hate, bigotry

The Internet may have already begun exploding due to April Fools' Day pranks, but one site's April 1st gesture is decidedly not a joke: the temporary closure of Reddit's "r/games" channel. An 8pm ET post on Sunday confirmed a united front by r/games' moderation team to shed light on the "condescending, dismissive, vindictive and pessimistic attitudes we see in our day-to-day activity." Instead of being able to create new topics or post comments, the community's 1.6 million subscribers will be left reading a locked moderator post that describes an average day's discourse on the site—along with the mod team's hopes for change.

George R.R. Martin Rumored to Be Working on New Game with FromSoftware

A rumor has emerged on the web suggesting that Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin is working with FromSoftware - the developers of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and the recently-released Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - on an open-world video game. The rumor emerged on the Spawn Wave YouTube channel, citing Liam Robertson (a writer with a good reputation for scoops) as its source. Spawn Wave makes it clear that nothing here has been confirmed publicly, and therefore we should come at this story with some skepticism.

Biomutant is a Refreshingly Weird Action-RPG With a Lot of Potential

From its colorful aesthetic and mutated creatures, Biomutant blends action-RPG gameplay with a weird world that I can't wait to play more of. As much as I love action-RPGs as a whole, few have ever quite stood out to me in the way that Biomutant has. I was already pretty much sold on the idea of playing as a mutated raccoon-like creature with a sword back when the game was first announced, but after having played a little bit of the game for myself, I’m now looking forward to this weirdly-satisfying hybrid of genres even more.

It Looks Like Ice-T Will Be In 'Borderlands 3'

Will Ice-T be in the newly announced Borderlands 3? I don't know -- honestly, the possibility never crossed my mind until the 61-year-old rapper, actor, author, and record executive tweeted out there's apparently a rumor he's going to be in the upcoming zany post-apocalyptic looter-shooter. What's weird about this though is that there was no rumor about Ice-T being Borderlands 3, at least none that I saw, and I spend most of my life combing through the rumor mill.

Borderlands 1, 2 and Pre-Sequel remastered for free

Borderlands 3 wasn’t the only looty shooty announcement Gearbox and publisher 2K had lined up today. They also announced yet another re-release of the original trilogy (including Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel), this time with a few technical improvements, some optional 4k textures and some quality-of-life improvements for the first game. The good news for us PC folks is that if you already own the original Borderlands or either of the sequels, these upgrades will be entirely free. Below, a pair of predictably bombastic trailers for the polished-up loot n’ shooters.
