Best Gaming Mouse: Buyer's Guide (Nov. 2016)

Choosing a mouse is a very personal decision. What may suit one person won’t necessarily suit another. There are a range of factors to consider from the various features to comfort and style. 5 Horrifying Laws It Took WAY Too Long To Fix

Every country has a dark past; we know and accept that. History was just an awful place to be. But you can define "past" in a lot of ways -- one hopes that when nations refer to their bleak history, they mean centuries ago, and not "earlier this morning." One hopes ... New Zealand is Australia's Canada: They're like a quieter, more polite version of their occasionally insane neighbor. NZ ranks 10th on the world's Social Progress Index...

The 75 Best Books of the Past 75 Years

When Parade asked me to compile a list of the best 75 books to celebrate the magazine’s 75th anniversary, my first answer was, “Not a chance!” I could picture the mountains of furious letters complaining about all the great works of literature I’d left off. But when I asked the staff at Parnassus Books, the Nashville store I co-own with Karen Hayes, to take it on as a group project, they were game. What we discovered in the process is how wildly we disagree about everything, except how much we love books.

    10 Most Bizarre Courthouse Suicides

The following is a list of 10 people who refused to allow the legal system to play out, thus determining their own fate.

17 Brilliant Short Novels You Can Read in a Sitting — Electric Literature

This week author Ian McEwan expressed his love of short novels, saying “very few [long] novels earn their length.” Certainly it seems like a novel has to be a minimum of 500 pages to win a major literary award these days, and many genre novels have ballooned to absurd sizes.

10 Completed Films That Were Never Released

Lots of movies never make it past the pre-production stages. Whether it’s by failure to secure financing or mysterious delays, some movies are just destined to be pipe dreams. Every so often, however, the stars align and a movie is shot, edited and completed, but for some reason or another never sees the light of day. This most often occurs with small budget features, but every now and again, a hot property with a big budget and an all-star cast is never released.

Top 10 Convicted Murderers Who Confessed (But Didn't Do It)

Doing hard time in a federal prison is unthinkable for most. Even more unimaginable would be serving that time because you confessed to a murder that you didn’t commit. But if the rise of DNA testing has taught us anything, it’s that confessions aren’t as reliable as we might assume. When Anthony Caravella was arrested in late December 1983, he knew he was in trouble. After all, he had failed to appear in Florida juvenile court over charges of stealing a bicycle.

The 30 Best Fantasy Book Series of All Time

Some readers equate fantasy with hobbits and magic wardrobes. Others conjure images of a wizard P.I. in Chicago or a gunslinger in a magical Wild West. And that is the beauty of the genre.
