Amazon’s Twitch Will Stream More Than 800 ‘Power Rangers’ Episodes Over 17 Days for Free
It’s Morphin time for Twitch: The Amazon-owned game broadcasting company will stream virtually every episode of Saban Brands’s “Power Rangers” TV series, spanning 23 seasons and 831 episodes, starting next week. The 17-day marathon begins March 14 at 11 a.m. PT and concludes March 30, live-streamed at Twitch.tv/TwitchPresents, the new home for the service’s programmatic TV marathons. It’s timed to coincide with the March 24 release of “Saban’s Power Rangers” live-action film from Lionsgate and Saban Brands.

Netflix is rolling out a button for skipping the opening credits
Netflix is rolling out a button that lets you skip the opening credits on some television shows. This week some Twitter users spotted a “skip intro” button that appears when you hover over the title sequence for shows including Netflix originals House of Cards and Iron Fist, and Mad Men (a third-party show). Both those shows open each episode with the title sequence, making it unclear whether you’ll be able to skip title sequences in shows with cold opens.

Netflix’s Latest Streaming Record: Members Viewed 250 Million Hours of Video on a Single Day in January
Netflix members from around the world helped break the company’s latest streaming record earlier this year: Netflix streamed more than 250 million hours of movies and TV shows to its members on January 8, according to the company’s VP of content delivery Ken Florance. Florance made this announcement during a presentation during Netflix’s Lab Day at the company’s headquarters in Los Gatos, California Thursday, a press event the company used to highlight some of the technology it uses to distribute its TV shows.

Twitch begins rolling out 1080p/60fps support
Twitch is now rolling out support for 1080p/60fps streams, the platform announced on its blog. To stream at 1080p/60 you're going to need to be able to sustain a bitrate up towards 6 megabits, though quality will depend on the game being streamed. The previous 3.5 megabit ingest bitrate limit has been lifted. Furthermore, viewers will also have lots more quality options available to them, ensuring they get the best viewing experience possible.

Hulu’s ‘The Mindy Project’ to End After Six Seasons
“The Mindy Project” will return to Hulu for one final season, Variety has confirmed. Season 6, the show’s last, will premiere on the streaming service in September. The Mindy Kaling-created series, produced by Universal TV in association with 3 Arts Entertainment, bowed on Fox in 2012, part of a freshman class that included “Ben and Kate.” It ran on the network for three seasons before being canceled by Fox and picked up by Hulu in 2015. The series was recently sold into syndication on VH1 and Freeform.

Netflix adds offline streaming to its Windows 10 app
Netflix has offered users the option to download videos to watch later in its Android and iOS apps since late last year. And today that feature is finally making the jump to desktop with the addition of offline videos to the Windows 10 PC app, as reported by Windows Central. Over 90% of College Students Today Regularly Use Netflix
New numbers show that an incredible number of today’s college students, more than 90%, have access to a Netflix account they regularly use. In a new survey from LendEDU, only only 8% college students that responded to the survey said they don’t have a Netflix account. That actually goes right in line with numbers from Piper Jaffray that showed almost 40% of teens watch Netflix every single day. Their closest competitors, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu, each came in at just 3% each for daily use.

Netflix blocks Fedora users
Netflix should finally support their HTML5 player in Firefox 52 on Linux. This version has already landed in Fedora and been there for a couple of weeks and we’ve already received complaints from users who are confused. Both Netflix and Mozilla claim it should work, but it doesn’t for them.

Netflix will invest billions to shoot its original content in California
Netflix is betting that filming closer to home will produce better content. In 2015, the streaming giant has announced that it would be doubling its output of original content, and it is aiming to have original productions make up half of its of its streaming catalog in the coming years. The goal is to entice users to come to the service by providing content that can’t be found elsewhere, but that goal is proving to be a strain on the existing film studio infrastructure.

A lot of people don’t like Netflix’s new ratings system
Netflix earlier this month implemented a sweeping change to its tried and true ratings system. Whereas the old ratings scheme relied upon a 5-star system, Netflix’s new design narrows down the possible review options to just two choices: a thumbs-up and a thumbs-down. Additionally, titles on Netflix will now be accompanied by a percentage figure intended to convey the odds a particular user will enjoy it.

Hulu’s Live TV service to cost $39.99 per month, sources say
The pricing for Hulu’s live TV service, a competitor with cable television – as well as a host of other streaming TV services like Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, DirecTV NOW, and YouTube TV – will likely be $39.99 per month, with ads and access to Hulu’s on-demand library, according to sources with knowledge of Hulu’s plans. That’s in line with Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins’ previous statement that its new service would cost “under $40” per month.

Marvel's Runaways Snags Official Series Order at Hulu
Hulu is officially entering the crowded comic-book arena, handing a formal series order to Marvel’s Runaways, from executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C.). When uploaded to Netflix, an episode of the educational children's show "Bill Nye the Science Guy" cut out a segment saying that chromosomes determine one's gender. In the original episode, titled "Probability," a young woman told viewers, "I'm a girl. Could have just as easily been a boy, though, because the probability of becoming a girl is always 1 in 2."

Analyst: The Cord-Cutting Future Has Arrived
With most results now in, the U.S. pay TV industry lost about 762,000 video subs in the first quarter of 2017, a worst-ever result for the period, according to a new report from MoffettNathanson. “For the better part of fifteen years, pundits have predicted that cord-cutting was the future. Well, the future has arrived,” MoffetNathanson’s Craig Moffett declared in his Q1 2017 Cord-Cutting Monitor. He noted that video losses from Q1 was more than five times as large as last year’s loss of 141,000.

It’s now official: 13 Reasons Why, Netflix’s adaption of the bestselling 2007 YA book by Jay Asher, has been renewed for a 13-episode second season to premiere in 2018. Amazon picks up new Bryan Cranston comedy series ‘The Dangerous Book for Boys’
Amazon has signed a straight-to-series order for a new half-hour comedy series based on the book The Dangerous Book for Boys. The new series is the brainchild of Emmy-winning Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, who Amazon has already worked with on their original series Sneaky Pete, and Greg Mottola, director of Paul and Superbad.
