Clashes in Paris as thousands march against Israel offensive
Clashes erupted in Paris on Sunday as thousands of people protested against Israel and in support of residents in the Gaza Strip, where a six-day conflict has left 168 Palestinians dead. Several thousand demonstrators walked calmly through the streets of Paris behind a large banner that read "Total Support for the Struggle of the Palestinian People".

France become first country in world to ban pro-Palestine demos
France's Socialist government provoked outrage today by becoming the first in the world to ban protests against Israeli action in Palestine. In what is viewed as an outrageous attack on democracy, Socialist Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said mass demonstrations planned for the weekend should be halted. Mr Cazeneuve said there was a ‘threat to public order’, while opponents said he was ‘criminalising’ popular support of the Palestinian people.

A prisoner has gouged out his own eyes in protest at the hot conditions inside his jail cell, it has been revealed. The man in his 50s is said to have self-inflicted the injuries at HMP Nottingham just days before he was due to be released. The incident occurred as inmates were protesting about the sweltering heat inside their cells and general poor conditions of the prison.

A cyber attack by the hacker group “Anonymous” has done more damage than any bottle or brick. The threats from “Anonymous” came shortly after the protests surrounding Brown’s death started. Civil disobedience expected in fast-food pay fight
McDonald's, Wendy's and other fast-food restaurants are expected to be targeted with acts of civil disobedience that could lead to arrests Thursday as labor organizers escalate their campaign to unionize the industry's workers. Kendall Fells, an organizing director for Fast Food Forward, said workers in a couple of dozen cities were trained to peacefully engage in civil disobedience ahead of this week's planned protests.

Michael Brown protesters plan to shut down interstate
Police are warning protesters upset over the handling of the Brown shooting against a planned Wednesday demonstration that will shut down a portion of Interstate 70 near Ferguson, Missouri. The protest is aimed at convincing Gov. Jay Nixon to appoint a special prosecutor in the case of Officer Darren Wilson, who is accused of killing the unarmed 18-year-old in August. It was the first large-scale public demonstration against Mr. Putin since March, and one that brought out a sizable but often silent minority of Mr. Putin’s critics despite the patriotic fervor that has seized Russia since his annexation of Crimea in March.
