Honestly, I have no problem with people fighting for higher wages, but they have to be realistic. I was working for Comcast making $14/hour doing work that required actual technical skill. I've heard these people were fighting for $15/hour wages. Really? $15/hour to flip burgers? Why do they deserve more money per hour doing unskilled work than me, doing actual skilled work and busting my butt doing so.
Also, you don't pressure an industry to "raise minimum wage." You pressure the government for that. If fast food workers unionize, McDonald's could bust it in a week. The problem with unskilled labor is that anyone can do it and there's always going to be someone unemployed willing to work for less than someone fighting for a higher wage.
These people should enjoy their jobs while they still can. Automation is coming and fast.
