Golden Or Not? Tell Us What You Think Of New U.S. Olympic Uniforms
We're not exactly fashionistas here at The Two-Way, but even with our skewed sense of style, we're not sure what to make of the Ralph Lauren-designed uniforms to be worn by the U.S. Olympic team at the opening ceremony in Sochi on Feb. 7. As one of our colleagues said, the uniform "looks like something your grandmother would knit you for Christmas." CBS Sports made a similar observation: "It's almost like an ugly Christmas sweater vest mixed with some yoga pants."

Sochi 2014: IOC jeopardized safety of athletes and fans in awarding Games to Putin’s Russia
The Olympics aren’t supposed to kill people. They’re supposed to exalt them. But it’s too late to take the dangerous, despoiling Winter Games away from the thugocracy that is Vladimir Putin’s Russian regime, so the only option is to count on the man’s bulging biceps and hope it’s an adequate “ring of steel” that can keep people safe in Sochi. It’s a cold hard fact that these Olympics have become an agent of death.

I Met the Black Widow Suicide Bomber
What do the "black widow" Islamist suicide bombers reported to be headed for the Winter Olympics in Sochi look like? I think back to May 2012 when a series of Islamist bombings in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, left 13 dead and over 130 injured. Two weeks later, two suspected terrorists were cornered in a house by security forces and, after the intervention of protesters, some women carrying babies were allowed to leave the premises.

Mayor Of Sochi Tells BBC There Are No Gays In His City
That's Anatoly Pakhomov, the mayor of Sochi, in an interview with the BBC program Panorama. Pakhomov told BBC that gay people were welcome at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, which his city will be hosting in 10 days — as long as they "don't impose their habits on others." Pakhomov's comments refer to a controversial law the country passed in June, which bans the promotion of "non-traditional" sexuality to minors. An Olympics in the Shadow of a War Zone
The Olympic Games that begin this week in Russia will be held just around the corner from one of the most violent parts of Europe. About 300 miles east of the Olympic city of Sochi, north of the Caucasus Mountains, the Russian army has fought two full-scale wars with Chechen separatists. As the wars wound down, Islamic extremism spread throughout the region, forcing Moscow to put the Games into a security lockdown.
