Nintendo has temporarily put its Russian eShop into maintenance mode, the company said in a notice on its Russian website, which appears to mean that players in the country can’t buy digital games from the store.

Those with an active Nintendo Switch Online account just got a handful of new options to further customize their player profiles. Live now, players will be able to complete weekly missions from Nintendo to earn currency called Platinum Points, which can be redeemed for digital wallpapers, physical items from the My Nintendo Store, and new icon elements from games like Super Mario Odyssey and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It’s all part of a new “Missions and Rewards” feature bundled in with Nintendo Switch Online.

The list of games overtly inspired by Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda franchise isn't small, but it's nevertheless impressive to see what some of the smallest development teams, in particular, can achieve. Ocean's Heart is a recent example on the Switch eShop, a game that's been upfront in acknowledging its sources of inspiration.

Gary Bowser, the public face behind Nintendo ROM hacker group Team Xecuter, has been sentenced to three years in prison. Originally, Bowser was looking at upwards of 10 years for his crime—five years for each count he pled guilty to. “Batman Arkham Collection” has been listed for release on Nintendo Switch by a French retail site. According to French retailer WTT, the game will cost €59.99 and currently holds a placeholder release date of August 31, 2022.

It's a big milestone for the Switch, as the Wii was one of Nintendo's most popular consoles. Sales of the Nintendo Switch console have surpassed the Wii, but the global semiconductor shortage forced the Japanese gaming giant to cut its forecast for the device.
