Netflix has nabbed the rights to make a sequel to “Beverly Hills Cop,” a move that deepens the relationship between the streaming giant and Eddie Murphy. Murphy’s new comedy “Dolemite is My Name” is currently showing on the platform, earning the actor some of the best reviews of his career. The film will see him reprise his role as Axel Foley, a street-smart Detroit cop who finds himself transplanted to the tony streets of Beverly Hills.

One exhibition source says that the amount of business that Avengers: Endgame is doing “is ridiculous.” Off of 9 AM shows alone today, big venues like the AMC 25 Empire in NYC is making $175K, NYC Lincoln Square counts $161K, Regal E-Walk has $78K, while the Edwards Irvine is seeing $145K. Industry estimates are seeing $130M-$140M for today including $60M. “I don’t see how the pic doesn’t get to $300M-plus,” said one rival distribution exec.

When the credits finally roll on Avengers: Endgame, they will be bringing to a close not only the end of a film but the end of a decade-long arc that began all the way back in 2008’s Iron Man.
