Nintendo's new, less expensive Switch is a brilliant move that is likely to sell millions of consoles this holiday — and the company's stock is already jumping on the news
When most people think of Nintendo, they probably think of Super Mario and Donkey Kong and Mario Kart. They almost certainly aren't thinking of Nintendo's handheld consoles first and foremost, but maybe they should be. Those consoles — the Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS — are the company's best sellers. In fact, the Nintendo DS is the best-selling Nintendo game console ever made, with over 150 million units sold.

Nintendo says the Switch Lite isn’t going to replace the 3DS
Today Nintendo revealed the Switch Lite, a redesigned version of the device that’s designed explicitly to be played on the go. Unlike the main Switch, you can’t connect it to a television to play at home. You might think that a handheld-only Switch would mark the death knell for the Nintendo 3DS, but Nintendo doesn’t necessarily see it that way.

Nintendo Switch Lite is smaller, cheaper, and handheld only
When reports emerged of a lower-cost Nintendo Switch that wouldn't have detachable Joy-Con controllers and couldn't plug into a TV, my son had one question. What's the point of a Switch that doesn't Switch? Good question. But that's exactly what Nintendo is releasing on Sept. 20. The Nintendo Switch Lite is handheld-only and costs $200. (UK and Australian pricing is yet to be announced, but that converts to £160 or AU$290.)

Gaming Addiction and Metaverse Games | Gaming Addiction
From Google's incubator for experimental projects, comes Game Builder, a new tool focused on developing video games without programming knowledge. The idea is that any user who has an idea about a possible video game, whatever it is, can make it a reality both alone and with the help of their friends, developing it in an environment based on cards, being quite familiar to all those who have already played Minecraft, since the user interface is inspired by this popular game.

Nintendo Reportedly Adjusts Smartphone Games to Make Players Spend Less Money
Nintendo, it seems, is getting in trouble with its smartphone development partners for being nice. Per sources of the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is concerned about being seen as greedy by consumers, and actively tells its partners - including DeNA and CyberAgent - to adjust games so that players don't spend too much. As for why a publicly listed company would try to make less money, a Nintendo employee apparently told WSJ that the company sees smartphone games more as advertising for its core console business than a straight moneymaking opportunity.

Shortly after he was appointed, Furukawa mentioned how he "grew up" with Nintendo and would respect its traditions: originality and flexibility. With this in mind, during a recent interview with Nikkei - as translated by Nintendo Everything - Furukawa touched on these company traditions when asked a series of questions about Nintendo's past, present and future.

ASUS ROG Phone review: A few stumbles can't stop this gaming-phone heavyweight
Smartphones have achieved the ridiculous level of market penetration they have thanks in no small part to their universal utility: While in the not-too-distant past you might have carried around a separate MP3 player, game console, PDA, flashlight, and any number of other accessories in addition to your cell phone, having all this functionality baked into one device is what helps make the general-purpose smartphone so appealing.
