Hollywood and theater owners are counting on the superhero film to breathe life back into the U.S. box office when it opens Nov. 3. Marvel Studios and Disney's critically acclaimed Thor: Ragnarok opened to a thunderous $107.6 million at the foreign box office this weekend from roughly 50 percent of the marketplace.

There have been whispers across the Marvel fandom for some time now that we could expect Carol Danvers (a.k.a. Captain Marvel), whose own standalone film is set to release in March of 2019, to show up in one of the Avengers films as well. Though Marvel insisted that Danvers would not be making an appearance in Infinity War, the internet has been abuzz with unconfirmed rumors concerning the character’s involvement in Avengers 4, and sightings of Brie Larson on the May 2019 film’s set. And now, we have official word on the matter.

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe turning 10 years old in 2018, Kevin Feige is promising that this franchise still has a lot of tricks up its sleeve. Last night, Thor: Ragnarok held its world premiere and Feige was on the red carpet speaking to reporters. When asked about how the MCU will change after this film, Feige said that Ragnarok is meant to be the beginning in a 4 film arc that shows something unique from Disney and Marvel:

We’ve learned that visual effects supervisor Christopher Townsend has been hired for Captain Marvel. Until casting ramps up in coming months, crew hirings are the main focus for Marvel at the moment. Townsend is no stranger to working on Marvel movies as his previous credits include Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2. He also got his start working on Star Wars: A New Hope for ILM while at the company worked on all three Star Wars prequels and A.I.: Artifical Intelligence.

YouTuber and Comicbook.com Writer Liam Robertson uncovered some interesting info about the game directly from employees at Capcom involved with the project, which he talked to over the past few months leading to the game’s release. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the two hit film series will be exclusive to Disney's upcoming streaming service at a media conference in LA on Thursday, CNBC reports.

Avengers: Infinity War will be a major turning point in the MCU, make no mistake. In a way, it's a farewell to the old guard and an ushering in of the new class - the Black Panthers and Captain Marvels - though whether that actually involved a concrete farewell to any of the franchise's beloved characters was yet to be determined. That is until JoBlo breached the topic with Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige, who responded with a simple: "Yes".

Spider-Man: Homecoming may be slipping down the box office charts, but the film is marching towards the $600 million mark at the global box office, with its domestic and international haul this weekend pushing the Marvel and Sony blockbuster to $571.7 million.
