Not another Greetings

When I joined Snapzu a few days ago, /t/lounge had a few topics that were interesting to partake in discussing but now it's full of people introducing themselves. I am not saying we shouldn't introduce ourselves, I did and it was very useful to start things going but i believe its clogging up the lounge. I have created /t/welcome for people to come introduce themselves allowing the lounge to be a more discussion based tribe. I also know that tribe promotion shouldn't be done here even though after Tribe creation it states...

  1. Come visit the Lounge tribe to introduce your new tribe (and yourself, if you haven't yet!). The Snapzu community is always looking to meet new people and check out new tribes.

Would people be up for having new users introduce themselves there instead?

I think it's pretty useful to have introductions in /t/lounge. It really solidified the new user experience for me because I legitimately felt very welcomed by everyone here, and it takes the pressure off posting here... making /t/lounge the awesome hangout tribe it should be.

    I disagree.

The lounge tribe is a place for all members to get together and hang out.
New members are encouraged to introduce themselves to get to know some of the other members.

Yes, there seems to be an influx of new member posts, but I think those will lessen when Reddit stops being dramatic (which might be a couple days or so.) At the time being, I like looking through the posts and talking to those I have similar interesting in.
/t/lounge is the most visited tribe (I think), so if you shoo all the new people into a brand-new tribe meant for welcoming new people, when all the hype dies down, you're left with a small tribe that has little purpose because that's what the lounge is for. And those people told to go to the /t/welcome tribe might actually feel unwelcome, because they're not allowed in the "real" discussion tribe, they have to introduce themselves in a tribe meant for introductions. It feels forced.

To be honest, I much prefer introductory posts than questions in here asking about where the features similar to Reddit are or suggestions that have been reposted multiple times...

OK. I understand. I guess i misunderstood what /t/lounge was completely about. Thanks

No problem. :) Hope I didn't come off too harsh, I've been told I have a problem with that. You had the best of intentions!

No, I think you handled it very well. Wouldn't be discussion if everyone agrees with each other.

Greetings and salivations! It's always interesting to see how people choose to introduce themselves.
