    For me in particular, I don't discriminate authors in any way (male/female, known/unknown, used to write this/used to write that) when I'm picking out a new book. I just read the book description and try to make a decision based on that alone. Over the years, I've developed a few favorite authors. So far all of my favorites have been male (Asimov, Dan Simmons, Kim Stanley Robinson, Arthur C. Clarke, HG Wells (I've wondered if Warehouse 13 is correct though...), and NIven to name several of my favorites. I do have hope for Sara King to become one of my favorites. I've read one of her books and enjoyed it quite a bit.
