Welcome! I graduated with a degree in Mathematics many years ago and probably couldn't tell you the difference between a Laplace Transform and a Differential Equation anymore, but the disciplines I learned studying Math really helped me in I.T. over the years.

Haha that's the case with most majors. I have seen few physicists being wobbly with basic mechanics, so it's not all that uncommon. I think there is a place for mathematics in every field. Thanks and I wish you the best.
