Hello all!
Been trying out this new playground for a week or so, and just wanted to say that I am very impressed. I'm coming from Reddit, and I have to say that the contrast in how people interact there vs. here is night and day. I love that I can go to a post's comments and see that there is obvious disagreement, but it remains completely civil. Having gotten so used to Reddit's flighty moods and absolute pounding of unpopular opinions, I find this incredibly refreshing. It's nice that calm discussion is the norm here, and I look forward to adding in to that.

Welcome! I came from Reddit too and I definitely prefer it here. I still have to go back occasionally to see what's going on in my community over there, but this is where i spend most of my time. Hope you enjoy your stay!
Welcome snapper! (I dunno what we'd call ourselves, really, but I like that. It should be a thing) I'm a reddit expat as well and came to the same conclusion.
To echo @GeniusIComeAnon - I have seen more civil,adult behavior here in regards to difference of opinion.
More "we'll just have to agree to disagree" and move on. Less "yeah, well, your mom is fat, you're stupid and I'm gonna downvote you and have a tantrum"
I would like to say that's an exaggerated over-generalization of redditors, but alas...

Now that you mention it, I do recall reading that somewhere here, when I was first exploring; because at the time, I wasn't sure if I'd stick around, the term never registered. Anyway, grazzi! :)
