I step away for a few days and look what you did.

So "hi!" to all the new folk! Welcome, salutations and so forth. It's a pleasure to see you all.

Now, I'm fully aware you don't give a pair of rat's dingos about who I am or what I think. Most of you are looking at my username and saying, "wait, who?" However, my ego will never allow me to acknowledge such a fundamental truth so let me open with a couple of obvious answers:

  1. Yes, I'm that spaceghoti. The same one. So far as I'm aware there's still only one of me. No one else really has the low self-esteem to claim the username except the occasional parody, and they don't tend to stick around long.

  2. Yes, it's pronounced "fish."

You'll see me around periodically depending on how busy I am at any given time. You're always welcome to drop a line and say "hi" back. The regulars already know and dread me.

You say it's pronounced fish, but it's too late - I've long since been mentally verbalising your username as "space goat-ey". (And by "long since" I mean a couple days of course.) The introduction post is welcome given that you're one of the users we all follow automatically when we create an account :)

I get that a lot. When I originally conceived this username way back in antiquity (don't ask) I was kind of hoping some people would misread it as "space ghost." Sadly, only one person has confessed to that mistake. One person even mistranslated it as "space bugatti" which I find simply bizarre.

    Good to meet you!

I have to say, I think 'ghoti' isn't taking it far enough. Next-level: 'ghoughphtheightteeau' (pronounced potato).

I'm not even going to try and work through reading that one.

Okay, I'll bite. What word uses "gh" to produce the "p" sound?
