Hello Snapzu!

Hello!

Was checking my mail everyday waiting for my invite, pretty excited to get involved with the community and give myself one more website to sink a ridiculous amount of hours into!

Currently in Belfast and listening to the sound of riots and thankful for these types of sites, ones that show you that the world is bigger than the one outside your window. So thanks to all the people who spend the time creating things like Snapzu; escapism at its best and procrastination at its wors.....best.

Off to have a look around!

    Hey and welcome! Good to see you here, hope you're doing well. I had to look up this riot thing and

    nighttime Belfast riots after the British territory's main Protestant brotherhood was blocked from marching past a Catholic district, an annual confrontation that usually ends in violence.

    This is like a yearly scheduled religious riot?

      Yeah, the 12th of July celebrates a Protestant victory over Catholics at the Boyne. Primarily a cultural celebration of Protestant culture and parades are held by the Orange Order. A Parades Commission was set up to monitor where the marches could pass; in this case a the 'Catholic district' is Ardoyne. The march past Ardoyne is seen as incendiary and provocative (for obvious reason), so they were stopped from passing. Riots took place, 24 PSNI injured and one 16 year old girl run over by a car!

      It's a fairly embarrassing time of the year for a lot of us here because of the trouble because it really doesn't reflect how amazing Belfast is. Such a great place to live, visit and generally be around!
