2015.06.29 Daily Dose: Growth Report and Check-In

The Daily Dose is a user-created discussion series where Snapzu members can check in with each other in a relaxed environment.
We are experimenting with different formats and ideas, so feedback is very welcome!

Hello, Snapzites!

How is everyone doing? Today's post is a bit sparse, as I'm still recovering from the weekend, but it's good to be back!

Growth Report

Over the past week our members have posted 1246 snaps and held 2670 discussions. Those are huge numbers! We also welcomed 386 new users, which is more than last week and shows that we're continuing our steady growth. Keep your eyes open for potential incomers and have your invites ready. Remember, it can be a lot easier to bring members into tribes they're interested in, so development of our little communities is very important.

Check-In

Feel free to stop in and have a chat. The site slowed down a bit over the weekend but we've set off again.

Wimbledon has started! Tennis fans, join me over at /t/tennis to talk about the big matches and your favorite players.

Whats your favorite unsolved mystery? What is the absolute worst movie you have ever seen? Answer these questions and more over at /t/asksnapzu!

Remember, Book Club voting is open for July's nonfiction and fiction selections. Tomorrow will be the last day of voting, so mark your choice if you haven't already.

For those who haven't, check out new tribes or share your own over at /t/newtribes.

Ughh, I had one of the biggest headaches on Sunday and it took all day to recover from (too much spiked lemonade!). Glad you had an awesome weekend, as we all should have, the sun was definitely helping to kick off the BBQ season!

There are still some folks jumping on board from reddit, but we have also noticed a significant increase in members being referred using invite codes and tribe links! This is great and ensures our community grows at the right pace and with the right people! A special thanks to all of you that took the time to invite someone over the past few weeks, you know who you are!

Did you recently start up a tribe?

If you have, be sure to fill your tribes with interesting on-topic content for people visiting to have something to check out. Growing a tribe is no small task and requires a lot of patience and dedication! For those of you brave enough to take the road less traveled there are some great literature available to help you get going.

    1. Five helpful tips on growing a successful tribe
    2. How to best promote your tribe using invite codes
    3. When is the best time to use your tribe specific referral code

If you're unfamiliar with the referral program, you can check out the Referral Program Intro and get start right away, there is also an in depth FAQ that helps to answer many of the common questions.

With a small community we can definitely feel the weekend! Looking forward to tennis so I went ahead and jointed the /t/tennis tribe. I've cast my votes for both non-fiction and fiction choices, and recommend anyone interested in participating to do the same.

Here is to a great week ahead!

I've actually never had a hangover, so I only struggle to recover from a lack of sleep :P

That's really good to hear. Those members are more likely to stick around and contribute, methinks.

Great advice regarding tribes. There are some members who just want to call a tribe their own, but we all need to appreciate the responsibility that comes with it.

I spent my weekend with family. Drank a few beers and took it easy. Great to hear about all the new users!

Went to the beach over the weekend, ended up raining which was a bummer, so my friends and I ended up playing Catan all day. Now I am trying to frantically finish a research paper so I can send it in for publication review before anyone else does. Ideas are always in a time-clock in the academic world, sigh.

I spent my weekend mostly just cleaning my new house. My fiancee and I are renting it from her mom, who didn't do a very good job cleaning before she moved out.

I also spent a lot of time trying to keep my cats from eating the new one we brought home. Stupid Humane Society was having a special where any cat over 1 year old had no adoption fees, so now I've moved up to having three cats. I'm becoming the crazy cat person.

Also went over to a buddies to play roulette, drink brandy, and smoke a cigar. Because we're classy as fuck. Started out with my $10 in chips, walked away with $9 of that left, so I call it a win.

Stop, stop now! It's a thin line from having 3 cats to having 15 :D

So you are right there with me now (3 cats)! Lol!

I was lucky to leave the Humane Society with only the one! There were so many there that looked so sad and in need of a cuddle!

I've been on holiday and enjoying the weather, meeting more of my fiancé's family and catching up with an old friend.

Today is like a hangover, realising that I spent too much money for the month, and back at work to the usual busy stressful activities. Joy of the week: one of my terrible employee has resigned and we shall be free from his monstrosity! The team is rejoicing.

Stuck in this heatwave we're experiencing in the North West. No AC unit either as it's usually not needed because of the year round mild temperatures. Kill me.

I have a small mobile unit that I usually use during the summer months, it's been getting hotter and hotter... I might actually grab it out of storage tomorrow and hook it up.

I got my website working and will be actually getting it online soon. It's not exactly as I wanted but it's better then I thought it would turn out none the less.

It's technically not 100% done yet but what the hey I'll throw it up anyway. It's www.cratorcreations.com There is only one blog post and one strip up cause that's all I got done so far. But let me know what you think anyway.

Looking good man! Not much content yet but that's how it usually works when at the start.

So great to finally see. It's been nice to watch the process of you wanting to create it to it being online! You've done a great job with it so far.

Thanks. You don't know how much your little push helped me move forward. Hopefully this is just the beginning.

Hmm... Right now, I am contemplating creating a new tribe for dragon artworks. I'm thinking of calling it ImaginaryDragons, FantasticDragons, or PicturesqueDragons. I am leaning towards the first two options, as I am thinking of creating other tribes in the future for other topics. Please let me know what you think about this.

Sounds good! I would personally just use /t/dragonart, but the other names do sound more fun :)

Indeed. I want it to stand out a bit more. I think I'll go with /t/FantasticDragons, and for future tribes of this nature, they'll be named with the format of /t/FantasticX. After all, there are ton of art categories to be subdivided into.
