Thoughts on Social Peer Review Apps in a Business Environment
So does anyone out there work for a company that uses a social peer review software or app to keep track of employees? The company I work for is testing one out for a couple of months and I just want to get peoples thoughts on it. So the premise is to reward people with stars and comments for work or most important SOCIAL BEHAVIORS in the company. For every star you are ranked on a leader board for integrity, discipline, work ethic, humor, blah blah blah. I personal find it repulsive and ignorant. Been with the company for 11 years, outlasted all my managers, vp's, and directors, I am a well known pirate, and do an awesome job. But my problem is that I am one of the few "Old timers" in my area and I often do have a "Get off my lawn" personality, I also have no ambition to move up the ladder so I don't suck up and play nicey nice with anyone. Just a tell it like it is guy. Now because of my age and standing in the company I kind of want to see this from everyone else view. So if you could tell me what you think that would be great. Maybe this is the new direction companies are going? Maybe younger people see this as an opportunity?

Also if I find a way to hack it I am going to give myself negative stars if possible or at least keep my rating at 0 stars!! Just to prove a point.

So I haven't been able to break the program. But I did upload a photo of me in my pirate gear because everyone has the standard "Professional" photo on it. I complained to my boss about it also and told him I didn't need anyone's Kindergarten stars. I am not shitting you, within 5 min of talking to him about how I thought the app was stupid I received a star for "Diplomacy" which said " You continue to push forward on tasks asked of you through choppy waters with a smile on your face" from him. Then I get the comments on the app "omg choppy waters, and he's dressed like a pirate! " This is what I work with.
