Seems to be a lot of old disused tribes that could use some alternate mods. Did the admin get caught napping?!

The admins are not napping, they are very much at work. They got a huge influx of users in less than a day, lets try to be understanding.

I was referring to earlier-allowing disused tribes to go unattended for so long. Given there is now so much interest it would make sense to reassign these now. Aside from that I am genuinely interested to know who the team is.

Ah I see what you mean. Well, if you see an inactive tribe you can petition TeamSnapzu to claim it. They won't remove mods otherwise.

Maybe the current influx might prompt them to rethink this. I bet there are a lot of unattended tribes after this spike settles and the Redditors depart.

But how would you do that in practice? I'm sure they have much more better things to do than to trace inactive tribes :). It's the very same way in reddit, if you see inactive subreddit you have to ask for it and maybe they actually give it to you. I don't see anything bad in in it as it is now.

and we dont want another reddit type drama. I am interested to know who this community is. a bit overwhelmed I'd say.

From what I have seen, I don't think we have to worry about the Snapzu team being anywhere near as corporate and money-driven as Ellen Pao's regime over at Reddit. With that said though, money is a force to be reckoned with, and it is capable of manipulating and changing many people. But I'd be surprised to see it happen to Snapzu anytime soon. It'd be nice to get to know the administration once they have time to introduce themselves though.

It probably won't happen until Snapzu gets larger and needs external funds to further its development. Then investors can ask to have a say in the decisions, which is reasonable but risk to be the beginning of money-driven actions.

To be fair Pao was under a lot of pressure to monetize a site that is anti-monetization in a way that few other communities are. If Snapzu finds a way to monetize this thing in a way that the community is cool with I don't see them having a lot of issues. However this is easier said than done.

You know, once their servers aren't on fire.

I would also like to know this. I have seen some usernames, but with no personal messaging system seemingly in place, I have not been able to reach them to offer help and the like.

I know of 3 admin accounts, TeamSnapzu, Drunkenninja, and gladsdotter

I am fairly sure Drunkenninja and gladsdotter are not admins. Veteran users yes, but not admins. Instead they are super-moderators. They have power but are not part of Team Snapzu.

What's the difference between a moderator and super moderator?

        • TheGuyThatsMeh (edited 9 years ago)
          +10

A super-moderator’s active role in the Snapzu community consists of: Keeping an eye out for spam and removing it (from snaps, comments, and related links)

Suspending and/or banning domains associated with spam

Helping new members learn and follow Snapzu community etiquette

Fixing incorrectly formatted snap titles & introductions

Communicating directly with the rest of the Snapzu team and providing first hand advice and suggestions on various subjects

          Moderators simply moderate tribes.

Be nice to know who the donations will be going to.

If you read their blog post, they state that all donations will go toward site upkeep (server costs). None of the admin will be pocketing money, as far as I know. I think you can relax.

I am relaxed thank you. Just wondering who "they" might be. I am sure the financial support is necessary and directed to support the upgrades that will benefit the users.

Snapzu History was posted by gladsdotter in this thread. Pretty neat rundown on how Snapzu was founded.

Hello. Is there an area I can apply for moderator of /t/AskSnapzu?

Hey. The tribe already has a moderator, but we may look for more in the future. Right now your account is too new for me to consider you. Once you level up and get used to Snapzu you can ask again.
