When you say "create an IRC", are you referring to creating a IRC network that could be used by Snapzu users or merely creating a chat within an existing network? The latter should be easy depending on the network one chooses though they usually have a theme and some requirements around them (e.g. QuakeNet I believe is mainly gaming focused, EFNet is more general, SnooNet is primarily for subreddits & reddit users). The former (creating a new IRC network) would generally require some sort of server hosting to be involved but would open the possibility of providing separate channels for all the tribes on Snapzu.

Having our own network would be amazing but obviously would take a lot more time, effort and money. Now i think it would be easier to just join a pre-existing network with out own channel. Which do you think would be the best to create the channel on?

I'm afraid I can't provide you with much guidance on this topic. As far as I'm aware, EFNet & UnderNet seem to be the big networks, however both offer some difficulty in establishing the channel initially (see UnderNet's AUP & EFNet's ChanFix, both seem to enforce some sort of activity before enforcement becomes possible).

Reading through the EFNet documentation however, I stumbled upon DALnet, which seems to have tools for channel management per this quote:

DALnet pioneered nickname and channel registration, giving users the right and ability to govern their online experience, without the fear of channel takeover, impersonation or harassment.

However I failed to find the documentation on this issue, but maybe their docs or some googling is a good place to look next?

I'll have a look into DALnet. I tried EFnet but it seems like you need a bot to mind the channel. Is there a way you can claim channels without a bot or a free bot?

I believe that's what DALnet's ChanServ is about. It's basically a bot/service operated by the network that allows you to register a channel & moderate it (see DALnet Policies & Procedures).
