I can't speak for teamsnapzu, but I originally suggested they create a place similar to /r/ideasfortheadmins which reddit utilizes for people to discuss ideas with the admins.
I admit I was a little disappointed that "all off topic discussions are welcome" was included in the side bar, but figured that was meant to say that things could be discussed in a lighthearted way.
This isn't just a regular tribe. It has it's own button on everyone's feed. That gives it a special prominence and (to my mind) a special function. I strongly believe there needs to be a place where snapzu users can discuss snapzu with each other and with the admins. Having that forum is critical, I believe, to getting good feedback about the site that will keep it growing. Previous to this tribe, discussions with admins over site ideas happened in the most random places (like cooking posts) and didn't get a lot of visibility. The purpose of this place, I thought, was to be visible.
While I don't have a problem with your post in-and-of itself, I just don't believe this is the right forum. I think it is a big mistake to require the users to have to wade through "Do you want to be punched in the balls?" type posts to find and participate in discussions about improving snapzu.
Post your balls question in /t/asksnapzu, another tribe of your choice, or hell, create one just for questions about balls.... I have no problem with you being as silly as you want and putting forth any content you want. I personally just don't want this particular tribe to be mired in nonsense when, to my mind, it has a very specific function and value from that function.
I'd like snapzu to be the reddit that reddit should have been (and used to be 8 years ago when I joined it). Snapzu can't do that without the decision makers having a good forum for access to the users. I don't think that forum should be littered with noise that distorts the function of the forum making it less effective.

You're right... due to the visibility of this tribe its an important hub for users to come together and discuss ideas and functionality. However I think the point was also to have other meaningful discussions amongst the core members of the site. I may be wrong, but I think having a highly visible general area to publicly engage in discussion with admins and users alike is a very good direction. Hmmm.. as for the silly stuff, it might be a good idea to dedicate another tribe to that, that might be the best trade off. Would be nice if more people took part in this discussion though, its an important subject and should be addressed appropriately.
News flash: most people are on here to have fun and have interesting conversations, NOT to talk about Snapzu itself. This is evidenced by the fact that only 6 of us are actually taking part in this conversation. Most people aren't interested in discussing how things are run, they just want to take part in the fun.
I agree that there needs to be a place to discuss Snapzu, but it shouldn't have a broad name like "lounge" and it probably doesn't need to be prominently at the top for everyone. I for one was genuinely surprised that a tribe called lounge wasn't an "anything goes" type place. Then the tribe description to the right says "The lounge tribe is a place for all members to get together and hang out. All off topic discussions are welcome".
Sysadmin, I'm curious about you. Why did you choose that name? Are you an admin or mod here? You didn't create this tribe, yet you have extremely clear and thorough opinions on what this tribe should be used for. I'd be really interested to hear what teamsnapzu has to say about it's original intentions for this tribe.
To answer your questions about me, I'm not or mod or admin here. I do have strong opinions about snapzu which I'm not apologetic about. Teamsnapzu has the final say and I accept whatever decisions they make regarding their own site. I am currently the chief of /t/asksnapzu but I've made it clear to Teamsnapzu that I'll be happy to turn it over to them if they wanted to use it for official snapzu business.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up.
This place needs broad discussion on a number of different subjects with snapzu functionality being one of them. So I think this guy has a point.
