In Iceland, Turning CO2 into Rock Could be a Big Breakthrough for Carbon Capture
Iceland is known for its unique landscape — it can even seem otherworldly. Drive about a half hour east of Reykjavik, and the ground seethes with steam — a bizarre, thick fog pouring out of the pebbly earth. This is because Iceland sits on top of a geological hot spot that’s pushing up from the Atlantic floor. Just about everywhere you go in Iceland, there’s hot water and steam right beneath your feet. Some of it breaks right through the surface.

A 'Dragon Aurora' Appeared in the Sky Over Iceland, and NASA Is a Little Confused
A gargantuan green dragon hisses in the sky over Iceland. Either "Game of Thrones" really upped its production budget for its final season, or the sun belched a barrage of charged particles into our atmosphere again. As much as any of us would like to see a real dragon breathe flames into the winter sky, buzzkill NASA blames solar activity — as usual — for the writhing, "fire-breathing"- aurora that loomed over Iceland earlier this month.

Iceland volcano and glacier are releasing huge amounts of methane, scientists discover
Huge amounts of methane are being released from a glacier connected to Katla—one of Iceland’s largest and most active volcanoes. Researchers found that up to 41 tonnes of methane is released through meltwater from the Sólheimajökull glacier every day over the summer months. The study, published in Scientific Reports, is the first to show methane is released from glaciers on such a large scale.

Huge Icelandic volcano set to erupt 'dwarfing 2010 ash cloud'
Scientists have warned that a huge volcano in Iceland is about to erupt, dwarfing the explosion that disrupted air travel across the world eight years ago. Katla, described as “highly hazardous”, has been releasing a massive amount of carbon dioxide – a clear indication that its magma chambers are filling up fast. Researchers believe its eruption could overshadow that of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano in 2010 – which caused a giant ash cloud that effectively grounded all European air travel.

Iceland Raises Age Of Religious Consent To 21
The island country of 330,000 nestled in the North Atlantic is making big waves. No one under the age of 21 will be indoctrinated into any religion, sect, or cult. Iceland’s parliament, the Alþingi, passed the National Minimum Religious Indoctrination Act (NMRIA) overwhelmingly. No parent or caretaker may expose a person under the age of 21 to religion by bringing them to church, temple, or mosque. And no religious fables (The Great Flood, Passover, Mohamed riding on a Buraq) can be fostered onto young and impressionable minds.
