Terror and Power: Is Gothic Horror Poised for 21st Century Revival?
In Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire novel Dracula, the eponymous count warns his pursuers, “My revenge is just begun! I spread it over centuries, and time is on my side.” Those who have read the novel or watched one of its countless adaptations will know that the count’s threat was empty. His revenge, and the count himself, were literally cut short. But while Dracula the character was killed, Dracula the book remains immortal, with horror readers and authors of all eras since genuflecting to its example.

What Does Cannibalism Do to Your Body?
Cannibalism is one of the most universal taboos. Frowned upon in nearly every culture around the world (even if there isn't always a law on the books to punish this very specific act), cannibals populate the worst of our ghost stories and horror movies. From Sawney Bean and his clan in the hills of Scotland, to Hannibal Lecter in Silence of The Lambs, cannibals are everywhere.

I'm Scared to Close My Eyes | Game Review
In 1994, The Blair Witch Project was released in cinemas, onto an audience unprepared for a film so uncomfortably genuine. The found-footage style movie showed us three students headed into the Burkittsville woods in Maryland to make a film about the local legend of the Blair Witch. They were never seen again. All that was found was the disturbing tapes of their recordings. I’ve loved the film ever since it’s release, so when I heard there was a game coming out called Blair Witch, I was beyond excited. It was released yesterday and I’ve already played for about two hours on Xbox One.

10 Works of Literary Horror You Should Read
This week, Victor LaValle’s new novel The Changeling hits shelves. This is only the most recent installment in a long series of great works of literary horror, and as a reader of primarily literary fiction, but with a major soft spot for, as they say, “genre,” its release has me thinking about horror and high-brow literary fiction and the ways in which they intersect.
