    Malta just became the first country in Europe to ban 'gay cure' therapy

    Malta has made history as the first European country to ban gay conversion therapy. The island nation passed the bill that will mean any medical professional found guilty of prescribing the so-called ‘gay cure’ therapy could be jailed. Politicians voted through the Affirmation of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression Bill, labelling gay cure therapy as “deceptive and harmful”.

    Veteran, 91, discharged in 1948 for being gay files lawsuit

    In the 1940s, H. Edward Spires faced a choice men don't face today — enlist or be drafted. Spires chose to enlist, and was assigned as an Air Force chaplain's assistant in San Antonio, Texas. But his "easy" assignment came to a screeching halt in 1948, when he was reported for being gay and was discharged as "undesirable." Now, 68 years later, the 91-year-old has filed a federal lawsuit seeking an honorable discharge so he can receive a military burial.

    Taken on the weekend it shows a 12-year-old boy stand up to 11,000 protesters as they march through Celaya in Mexico in a protest against same-sex marriage. The boy, who it turned out later has a gay uncle, was pictured with his arms wide open begging the thousands before him to stop. The moment was captured by photo journalist Manuel Rodriguez. He told Regeneración that at first he thought the child was only playing but was later told he has an ‘uncle who is gay’ and he ‘hates that people hate.’

    Egyption police are using gay dating apps like Grindr to track down LGBT people, it has been alleged. Authorities in the country have reportedly been using gay dating apps to find and detain members of the LGBT community, The Jerusalem Post reported. According to lifestyle and entertainment magazine CairoScene, a source close to the city's LGBT community claimed apps such as Grindr are “jeopardising the safety” of many of their members.

    Tanzania has just banned lube to 'curb homosexuality'

    The Tanzanian government has banned the import and sale of sexual lubricants as part of a sustained crackdown on the country's LGBT+ community. "It is true that the government has banned the importation and use of the jelly to curb the spread of HIV," Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu told local media. He said that lubricant encourages homosexuality, which is against the law in the east African country and can be punished by life imprisonment.

    Thousands rally in Australia for same-sex marriage

    Thousands of Australians marched at same-sex marriage rallies across the country on Saturday calling on whichever party wins a July 2 national election to quickly introduce same-sex marriage laws. Conservative Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull supports same-sex marriage and has pledged a public vote on the issue before the end of 2016. The Labor opposition will skip a public vote and introduce a bill to parliament within 100 days if it wins the election.

    Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards signed an anti-discrimination order on Wednesday protecting the rights of gay and transgender people, aligning his state on the liberal side of a political divide playing out across the U.S. South. The Democrat's executive order also protects state employees against discrimination based on other criteria including race, religion, disability or age.
