What gaming experience would you like to share the most?

So... our life has those amazing experiences that give us either insight or happiness or maybe just deeply touch our hearts and that we wish we could share with people. Like, make them feel exacly like we did during that experience. With gaming this is no different, at least to me. For example, Final Fantasy IX really left it's mark inside me and so did Kingdom Hearts 2. Actually, I was listening to the intro song for the latter yesterday and It made me feel something so awesome and suddenly I got so sad because I realized no one would ever be able to know exacly how I felt.

What about you? What are the games or experiences related to games that make you feel something special?

Super Mario World on the SNES. Every time I think about it, I instantly remember all the great times playing that game. It also set such a huge bar for other future SNES games.

Metroid on the NES blew my mind, and when SNES came out I couldn't wait to play Super Metroid. I must have found every secret there was in that game.

Metroid was tied with Legend of Zelda for my favorite games on the NES. So many hours spent on those 2 games.

Same, Zelda was huge for me too.

Funny thing is that most of my friends who had an NES got Super Mario Bros. with their NES, but mine didn't come with it. In fact, i never owned SMB. But Zelda and Metroid were the first two games I had (supplied my grandparents when they gave me the NES). Also the only two games I ever "finished" on the NES, I think.

Funny, I don't recall finishing any other game but those two as well. Hmm wait, nevermind I did finish Super Mario world :D

I don't know why people hated IX so much, I loved it. Maybe it was because it wasn't VII or VIII, or just because it was too "cartoon" like. Story wise I thought it was great.

Anyhow for mine it has to be Final Fantasy XI (before the Abyssea expansions). The game in its original years was amazing. I made so many friends then that I still have now, and I have memories of events that took place in different parts of the world. The game forced you to bring your A game if you wanted to complete the hardest content. There was no room for sexism in the game like other casual MMO's, if someone could do their job and do it well, it didn't matter race, gender, sexual preference, they were your team mate and you were there to do one thing, play a game, and do it to the best of your ability.

This game shaped my life, sure it did eat a good 10 years of my life, and I don't regret anything.

For those wanting to know about the Abyssea comment above. Square-Enix changed the content to a more "casual" gameplay style with the introduction of those expansions. Endgame was destroyed in one swift blow. You used to have tight groups of 30+ people working towards a few goals and helping everyone else along the way, now the game just become a Me, Me, Me game.

Favourite moment: There used to be a endgame world spawn that would spawn over multiple zones ever 21 hours or so called Dark Ixion. The JP timezone crew (most were AU/EU players) successfully held it in the JP Prime timeslot for 2 months making sure to kill it so that it would respawn in the same time allocation the next night. See the 21 hour respawn was to allow the boss to slowly drift through timezones giving everyone the ability to attempt to slay it. Did I mention that it was just 4 of us doing this, most multi-boxing characters. Other groups at the time would need 18 players to take it down. Fun times :D

The first time I saw Double Dragon at the arcade. I was blown away at how cool it looked and that two people can play it at the same time. I could beat the game with a single quarter and these days if I see a Double Dragon arcade somewhere I usually take a moment to play it. The other was when I finally beat Mike Tyson in Punch-Out. It took me a few months but I just kept at it. What a relief that was. I jumped up and started to celebrate. My little cousin who was next to me got up and started jumping around all happy. I wish there was a video of that moment. Finally that moment when Street Fighter 2 came out. People were in a frenzy to play it. You had to wait a while just to get a turn to play it. For me Chinatown (NYC), was the place to be since there were so many Street Fighter 2 arcades around in different shops. Fun times.

Bioshock Infinite would have to be the game that really hit me, from the beach scene with Elizabeth, to the Guitar playing and her singing, just the whole story was amazing and it'll always be one of my top tens.

There's lots of other games, but this one just had the right chemistry for me, only other game that gets me tied up in it would be TLOU or Uncharted.

The guitar scene and the girl singing Fortunate Son were standout moments. I adored Infinite.

Just recalled something to add to this. My first MMO was City of Heroes. I got into the Beta and my first time seeing the open world left me just standing there staring at how amazing Atlas Park looked. My first thought was, I'm looking through a window into a new world that exist outside my own. I'm guessing maybe its like that for anyone's first MMO experience. I honestly have no idea. And that music that played in the background really set the tone too.
