Is seeing graphic, violent content onstage different from watching it on a screen? The Royal Shakespeare Company is using science to find out. The Royal Shakespeare Company will monitor audience members to find out if Shakespeare still shocks in the age of ‘Game of Thrones.’The British theater troupe is currently performing Titus Andronicus in Stratford-upon-Avon. Considered Shakespeare’s goriest play, Titus includes scenes where characters are raped and mutilated, or have their hands chopped off.

Game of Thrones Season 7 May be Longer Than Expected

The stellar sixth season of Game of Thrones helped provide a soft cushion for the news that followed that blood-soaked season finale: HBO’s flagship series was coming to an end, the seventh season would air later than usual, and the final two seasons would be shorter than the usual ten episodes. I’m a big fan of the “let the storytellers do what they need to do” approach to thinking and writing about popular culture, but that doesn’t make the extended wait for our final, abbreviated visit to Westeros feel any less unbearable.

A Military Officer Reveals the History Behind Game of Thrones Battle Tactics

Game of Thrones has taken from legal history (Tyrion’s trial by combat) and medical history (Ser Robert Strong is the reanimated corpse of Ser Gregor Clegane). In episode "Battle of the Bastards"—the fight between the armies of the Starks and the Boltons—we got to see writers D.B.
