I hit the streets of San Francisco on an all-too-warm afternoon with camera and notebook in tow, scouting for people wearing what I thought of as the “tech uniform”—the studiedly casual California look associated with startup culture.

Is Activewear the New Denim?
NEW YORK, United States — Gap Inc chief executive Glenn Murphy is awfully bullish on the company’s activewear brand Athleta. “I think the trends in the marketplace, when it comes to women and, then, when it comes to performance and how they are dressing in general… they just seem to fit hand and glove and this is a brand that’s resonating for a lot of different reasons,” said Murphy on a February earnings call to discuss fourth-quarter 2013 results...

Fabric Color Fluctuates in Wind, Heat, Sound and More
This has to be one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen all week. It’s fabric imbued with a special ink designed to react to seven stimuli: heat, UV, pollution, moisture, chemicals, friction, and sound. It comes from UK-based artist Lauren Bowker of the material studio THE UNSEEN and debuted during London’s Fashion Week 2014.
