What are you looking forward to this week (or month)?

I'm really excited and nervous for this week so I just want to talk with everyone about it. That and, of course, knowing what is occupying everyone else's mind!

**So, snapzu: what are you excited about this week? ** I'm starting vet school this week, so feeling a very strong mix of emotions.

I'm looking forward to doing nothing this week as our summer has been crazy. I am looking forward to my 10 year reunion as I haven't seen most people since high school.

Congratulations on vet school! I'm sure it will be a great experience!

Well the Fringe has started so I'm looking forward to all the shows I have tickets for and the stuff i'm just showing up to.

I also have a job interview on Friday for a job I forgot i had applied to, was surprised to get an interview for (a long shot) and for a job I really really really want now that I think about it. I am Bricking it.

On Saturday I'm off to see a Boylesque show, I have a Vegan food festival to visit, i'm not vegan but i love food and I think that everyone would benefit from having vegan meals mixed into their diet so I'm taking my kids along to see what sort of excitement the experts can offer to my meal plans :)

Next week I'm taking the kids to a marionette circus show and a Lion tamer that tames noises. I'm also going to pop in with them to a comedy show for kids and a children's Ceilidh which should be awesome.

At the end of the Month I have tickets for Trevor Noah. I might also go see Adam Hills but depends if i can get tickets to his Sign-language supported show (which is heaps funnier)

Oh that sounds super exciting! I'm actually probably wandering through some stuff for the festival tomorrow. Any recommendations for things to do? A bit of an overload and can't really decide on anything concrete to get tickets for...

      Good luck with the interview!

One of my new uni mates was just telling me about that! I was super intrigued and it does sound right up my alley...

The comedy festival and food festivals also seem like fun things, just unsure of whether I should just wander or if there's actually things I need to be getting tickets for.

if you can get a ticket for Adam Hills on .. i think it's the 21st with his Scottish sign language lady then do so right meow, it's a much more enriching show with her there.

Hold on i'll raid the planning calendar for some of the other comedy of note.

Starting vet school sounds pretty exciting, and also intimidating!

I'm not looking forward to much. I'm trying to get myself prepped for job interviews this fall / winter, so I've been working on my portfolio and doing a lot of learning about UX.

      Had any job interviews already?

      Also, what exactly is UX?

I have not. I don't graduate college until December, but I'm hoping to get stuff set up around October - November, the earlier the better.

And UX stands for User Experience, and it's sort of hard to describe. It's kind of a collection of various jobs and skillsets. It's mostly within the tech industry and the term wasn't even coined until the 1990s. It basically is the "what, when, where, why, who, and how of a user's journey through the product."

This video from UX Mastery can describe it better than me. But I'm definitely interested in it and it's field I want to go into. So I'm excited about the possibilities.

Interesting. Really a field where you have to be aware of all the aspects of something to make it actually work. Guess that a lot of UX designers are interested/participate in the different levels of product development/launch/etc.? Good luck with the applications! Don't forget to take some breaks every now and go out and have some fun!

The start of my last year in college. I've been in and out of school for more than a decade now, but this fall will mark the final two semesters of my degree. It's been a hell of a winding road.
