The 4 Pillars of Good Writing
Which hard skill do recent college grads lack the most? In 2016, PayScale asked employers this question. The top response was “writing proficiency.” Wow. Our education system teaches few practical skills, but it does emphasize writing. So what gives? Incompetent teachers? Unteachable students? Actually, the problem for many college graduates is having absorbed their academic training all too well. The challenge for them is to unlearn the bad writing habits picked up from 16-plus years of school.

The Secrets To Being A Successful Writer Without Crushing Your Soul
We’ve all read the posts about morning routines, productivity hacks and success rituals. The issue is these things have little meaning for us unless we decide they have meaning. In fact, we can read and read, listen and listen, and watch and watch but unless the message speaks to our heart, we do not change. In fact, in many cases, we find ourselves rebelling at the ideas presented to us. Almost as if the person describing how to get ahead really knew our hearts and was writing directly to us.

Movement-First: How to Scale Content Without Sacrificing Quality
When Apple first launched the iPhone in 2007, it was a tightly controlled experience. Demand far exceeded supply. You could only buy the devices at Apple and AT&T stores. There was no App Store and therefore no third-party apps. Things have changed a little in the last eleven years. Today, you can buy an iPhone at Costco or Walmart. That was inconceivable a decade ago.

Don’t Sit On The Fence. Take A Position And Be Loud As Hell.
There is a time and place for subtlety. That time and place is not the internet in 2018. I’ve been making content online for around 20 years now, give or take. I started before I was 10. In that time, I’ve seen the streams and channels and audiences grow to an insane number of people, online and searching for content at every second of every day. It’s gone from a few black and white channels to full colour HD so fast it can make your head spin. We are living in a time of noise, of colour, of violent, fit-inducing stimulation, where the extreme of any opinion, any position, any vertical, and any content format is just a wink away.

Want to be a Great Writer? Then Don’t Focus on Writing. (Do This Instead)
Do you want to be a great writer? To create stunning works of art that people can’t stop reading? To craft brilliant articles that touch hearts and change lives? Maybe being a great writer has been your dream since you were barely old enough to scribble on the walls in spaghetti sauce. Or maybe you’ve been trying for years to get your writing career to “take off,” with no luck. If so, you’ve probably already imbibed lots of writing advice. Everything from “write every day!” to “Sit down at the keyboard and bleed.” Forget all that. The key to writing well isn’t to focus on writing. It’s to focus on your writing system.

How To Write Better Blog Headlines (Even If You're A Complete Beginner)
Writing high-quality articles takes a ton of time, but sadly many high quality articles won’t even get read. According to Copyblogger, 8 out of 10 people will read headlines but only 2 out of 10 will actually click on it and read the rest. To maximize your effectiveness with blogging or content marketing, you really have to write amazing headlines that people feel compelled to click.
