You are the one with the red username, find who did it or force people to give a reason for downvoting. My guess as a former redditor it's that it was another former redditor that didn't went to the trouble of reading the rules and faq.
I didnt do it, but I found this post meaningless. What was done to improve efficiency? What bottle neck has been resolved? What bottle necks are still in snapzu code? How can I help?
It's not just "circlejerk without context" - the admins have previously stated that they would give regular updates given that they've quadrupled site traffic in less than a week. Secondly, they're trying to let those who are still dealing with long lag times know that it should be improving, which would help with those users' frustrations. Lastly, you're really putting the admins in a lose-lose situation here - if they didn't post the small updates and there were extended periods of silence, there would be cries about lack of transparency by the admins or lack of efforts being put into improve the site. Have some empathy, please.
And that's fine - there are a lot of users here for whom this small update will be satisfactory, and for some (like yourself) that have a much more technical understanding of sites, you're going to want more meat to the updates. All you need to do is ask or PM an admin politely - if they're too busy, they might not be able to answer right away, but empathy and friendliness will get you far.
Well, it kind of does. Not in the internet points kind of sense, but if it ends up being used frivolously rather than with the purposes set in the etiquette, it may end up changing the character of the discussion. So while the single downvote might not carry weight in this particular instance, maintaining the notion that they do carry weight and are consequential and as such should be used responsibly does carry merit. One possible way of doing this is requesting further clarification in cases where the downvote hasn't been obviously warranted.
