[Update] Snap Creation Process - Functionality Changes

Hi everyone!

We have completed some minor updates to the content creation area (SCP). We have removed the drop down menu for snap type selection area and replaced it with a "choose" button that will load a popover instead. If you forget to select your snap type during publishing you should now be reminded with the popover appearing when clicking on the "publish" button. The reason for this change was due to a number of complaints that the original drop down concept wasn't noticeable enough and was being overlooked which resulted in "unspecified" snaps being posted. Since snap type cannot be changed after publication, we think it's important that a reminder is available.

Please feel free to post any feedback in regards to this update in the comments below. Thank you!

Edit: There is an issue where the selected "type" isn't being saved when the popover appears as a reminder and instead auto-publishes the snap as "unspecified" instead. We are working to correct this, and should have a fix ready shortly. Until then, please select the "snap type" before pressing the publish button! Thanks all.

Update: The glitch with the reminder popover auto publishing unspecified snaps has been corrected. Everything is now working as intended!

I don't like it at all. It's just an extra step you have to take to post something. Maybe the selection should be labeled something different like "Choose your content category" or some other statement instead of a question. Just my 2 cents.

I like the reminder but i liked the implementation with the drop down more. It's definitely not a big deal but now it takes a bit longer to choose the type cause you have to move your mouse more. Anyway, as I said, not a big deal.

Prefer the drop down list myself. Makes submitting snaps a tad bit quicker.

Also, not sure if it's a bug or it's just me, but I just tested it twice without specifying a type and it published the snap before the pop up appeared and saved it with an 'unspecified' type.

This looks to be a caching related issue, we are working on it and it should be corrected very soon. Until then, please don't wait until clicking the publish button to select "type", and it will work correctly.

Got bitten by this one myself. Went through the popover, published, snap type was unspecified. May've been my mistake somehow, of course. My only attitude is gratitude. May I make a suggestion? Either give us the popup menu back in addition to the popover dialog, or give us the ability to double-click on a snap type to make the selection and close the popover.

Double click to close would be nice, I'm one of the lazy people who prefer to minimize mouse movement. If I can double click to close the dialog it would feel like less of a chore than it does now. Either way, I appreciate all the work being done to improve the site.

While the site’s busy, everything that requires round trips to and from the server lags. Had gotten in the habit of setting snap type from the popup menu while waiting. Guess we’ll see how this works when we see another influx.

I just tried it too, same thing. :(

I came here because I just had the same problem. :(

Oh man I really needed that change. I post quite a lot during the day and I often forget to specify the type, resulting in me deleting that snap and creating it all over again.

Thanks for the update, guys! :D

    Great update :)

I also noticed the tribe selection UI changed a bit, or maybe I'm just going insane, but I like that as well!

Awesome change, much much better! Thank you for all the hard work, as usual!

I need the reminder so I like this change.

I like it as I'm always on a mobile device and couldn't see the definitions for each type. I was also really pleased to know that improvements are always considered and the site will be developed-this will help keep the site interesting and functional. One of the reasons I like SNAPZU so much is because of the attention to these details and the site feeling contemporary.

I kind of liked the old way because it was a tad quicker and didn't involve an extra step to submit content. However, the changes honestly aren't that bad and it does look good as well.

I'm all for any change which helps the user-base submit their content easier and without issue. :)

Great thank you, this is very helpful. I know I have a couple unspecified snaps floating around.

Edit: Upon trying this, I selected a content type and it didn't do it.

Can't tell you how many times I've just completely forgot about it and wish I could go back and change it later, but this is a welcome change, it's an extra step, but at least the reminder is there.

I tried to post a snap last night from my phone but the popup only shows the box that asks you to select from the left and doesn't show the bit with the choices at all :( so couldn't post

Can you please take a screenshot of the issue and PM me with it? I would like to have a look so that we can fix it.
