While I have no idea what the Snapzu team plans to do with it, there are definitely other benefits to an invite-based system. Having a limited number of invites given out, with a set of invites given to other users means it takes slightly more effort to create additional accounts. Something like this helps when dealing with troll accounts or low quality users. No matter how minimal, any additional effort is bound to discourage some set of trolls. This also helps to weed out some spam, as well as make it easier to deal with hate or incitement type accounts.

Also regarding a point /u/Moderator made in another thread yesterday, it allows the userbase to grow slowly instead of being overwhelmed. This means new users will have to adapt to the culture on Snapzu rather than completely overriding it with cultures of other communities (e.g. reddit).

As it should be. I definitely do not want to see the trollish, vulgar element from Reddit making it over here and trashing Snapzu, that's for sure. Anyway,I'm stunned at the influx of users in just the last couple of days.

That's true and i'm loving the community so far but if someone wanted to, they easily get three invites from their first account and three from each of those. So after someone got an account, it would be very easy to create multiple ones from that. I do like though how it doesnt look like it supports have multiple accounts like RES did, just giving user the ability to switch in a second.

Creating multiple accounts from your invites is probably (depending on how well it's tracked) quite a bit more traceable, so if there are problem users who do use this tactic it's easier to shut down.

Right. I forgot that subsequent accounts are sort of linked to their parent account

This site seems much more mature than reddit. The invite system really keeps the douche bags out. I like this system a lot better. Makes me feel special :D
