Paris taxi firm suspends Tesla fleet after fatal accident
France's transport minister said on Wednesday there was no suggestion at this stage that a fatal accident in Paris involving a Tesla (TSLA) Model 3 taxi was caused by a technical fault. Leading Paris taxi company G7 has suspended the use of the 37 Model 3 cars in its fleet after an accident on Saturday involving one of its drivers in which one person was killed and 20 injured.

California makes zero-emission autonomous vehicles mandatory by 2030
Starting in 2030, California will require all light-duty autonomous vehicles that operate in the state to emit zero emissions. Signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday, SB 500 represents the latest effort by the state to limit the sale of new internal combustion vehicles with an eye towards reducing greenhouse emissions. In 2020, Newsom signed an executive order that effectively banned the sale of new gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles by 2035. That same year, the state’s Air Resources Board mandated that all new trucks sold in California emit zero emissions by 2045.

China new energy car output, sales in August rise
China-based makers produced 309,000 new energy vehicles and sold 321,000 units in August 2021, both soaring 180% on year, according to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). The output consisted of 252,000 electric vehicles (EVs) and 56,000 PHEVs (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles), growing 190% and 140% respectively on year, CAAM said. The sales consisted of 265,000 EVs and 56,000 PHEVs, respectively rising 190% and 170% on year.
