I've been involved in a discussion today about the behaviour of people, especially atheist in online debates (read: Twitter) and it has certainly given me food for thought.

An atheist in Northern California has been awarded nearly $2 million in a settlement with the state and a nonprofit drug rehab organization for violating his religious liberty by sending him to jail for refusing to submit to a “higher power” as part of a treatment program, local news outlets reported.

Aside from feeling a powerful urge to gouge your eyes out with a shredded Bud Light can while they talk, you wanna know the easiest way to tell if someone is a fucking idiot? Ask them to explain why they hold a certain opinion. An intelligent person will provide evidence. An idiot will drool all over more of their opinions to back up their first.

On Twitter, recently, a new hashtag has been making the rounds. #NormalizeAtheism is the brain baby of atheist activist Mark Nebo, who is otherwise known for his founding of Be Secular and co-hosting the Ra-Men podcast. The goal of the hashtag is, as it sounds, to build awareness for atheism, make evident our numbers and encourage more people to come out as a nonbeliever.

It's about keeping the nation pure.
