If you want to be amazed by things again, you need to surround yourself with interesting things. One thing I've found that helps me find amazement and awe at the world around me is the podcast Radiolab. They can take any topic, even mundane ones, and make realize you've never really noticed those things before. Amazing!
Since I've been doing meditation things definitely seem more amazing. I think part of it is we get so bogged down with life as an adult. We have so many responsibilities and stress as an adult that it constrains our vision. I mean how can everything seem amazing when we have 20+ years of baggage weighing us down.
I have a neat exercise that kinda illustrates what I mean. I like to do this when I'm feeling anxious or whatnot. Close your eyes and for a time forget about the past or the future, only think about the present. What's happening right now. Open up your senses and take in every sensation. Try to feel the texture of the carpet under your feet to the fullest, listen to the intricate noises outside and focus on nothing else. You can even open your eyes and see things as they are in the present, and try to notice and see things you wouldn't have tried to look for before.
It's pretty nice to experience life without worrying about what's coming next or what you've struggled through, and everything seems so much more amazing.
