Actually, the "best" technique is this one. I'm extremely sensitive to onions and pretty much cried every time, but I don't since I adopted this technique.
Plus, it's much easier in the long run, and a lot faster, cause the onion doesn't fall apart.

Has anyone tried chewing gum while cutting onions? I've heard several times that is supposed to help.
