Went to Fogo de Chao with 4 friends. When the after dinner drinks came around I had already said I was buying dinner for everyone. So the waiter suggested shots of Patron Platinum. I figured never heard of that version so why not!? After 4 rounds of shots I happened to ask what they cost. At which time I was informed they are $40 each!!!! So needless to say I turned a $160 meal into an $800 before tip. Lesson: always ask how much anything costs with "Platinum" in the name.
As someone that has spent a good amount of time in various countries, ALWAYS ask for the price before even agreeing to purchasing it. Better if you can look somewhat disinterested.

You should have said, "Here's a tip: warn people these things cost $40 a shot before they order them!"
Yeah she just wanted to make more money. 15% of the $160 shots is $24 on its own.
No, the meal was $160. The shots were $640. The tip off of that was $96 at 15%!
