Window Size problems with snapzu

I get these window size issues with snapzu. They seem to come and go as updates change things. I have to make the text really small in order to make the sidebar and the voting functional. Here are two screenshots:

  1. Zoom 67%: Sidebar functional, voting arrows present. Also apparently in the home screen there is a whole row of categorues at the top now visible.

  2. Zoom 80%: Sidebar cannot be removed, voting arrows hidden. IN the home screen, categories not visible.

The trouble is that at Zoom:67% I can barely read the text.

There's a Lenovo Thinkpad I use sometimes whose native display resolution, regardless of browser magnification, seems to've permanently scared off the snap image cropping button. Maybe it's the Windows OS GUI magnification?

Please send me a screenshot, and I can have a look.

I don't have a cover image crop button on my iPad either. I also can't remove snaps from groups I am chief of on mobile, which is very frustrating when spammed.

Using the crop tools in Ipad is impossible due to the way "touch functionality" is setup, and it's too complex of an issue at this time to try and put together new functionality so that it is compatible with mobile. However having said that, if you do have an example of a service (website) that allows you to properly and easily crop images via mobile devices (ipad, iphone, etc), please let me know and I will look into possibly adding the functionality into our upcoming updates dependent of course on the level of complexity.

As for the inability to remove snaps within your own tribes, this functionality IS available and I have no idea why you cannot see the trash icon, please send me a screenshot from your ipad so that I can have a look.

I have sent a screenshot of what I see in /t/books on my ipad to support@snapzu.com.

Ok, thanks. I will have a look.

Edit: Took a look, strange that the delete button is missing. Here is a screenshot of the /t/futurism tribe being viewed in the mobile layout and the delete buttons show up, no matter the width of the window.

I checked multiple tribes I am the chief of and also moderator of, and I tried Night Mode as in your screenshot. I also tried on my phone. There is no sign of a delete button anywhere.

Alright, this will need to be looked at from the backend. I'll keep you posted /u/gladsdotter.

This is still broken. Any updates or timeline on when it might be fixed?

I've documented the issue and uploaded screenshots. Still working on a fix.

A month later, I'm wondering if there is any timeline for this to be fixed.

We are planning to correct a number of bugs associated with viewfinder settings, as well as a list of other fixes / improvements in a batch release sometime next week.

Snapzu is really messed up. The green button where I can post a link is gone.

I'm seeing problems too. The SnapIt toolbar button keeps timing out, making it very hard to post, although I do still see the Submit button, both on desktop and mobile.

Can you give me a bit more details on whats happening? Link me to a screenshot? We did a minor update this morning, however nothing in regards to the Submit button.

No recent changes were applied to the Snap It! toolbar button, we did however update it to use new javascript a couple of months ago. Please try removing the old Snap It! button and re-apply a new one from your Posts area.

I deleted the old one and installed a fresh one. Then I tried it on a page from the Guardian, and it spun and spun without ever connecting, though the same page did post quickly using the Submit button. SnapIt did connect on a page from the New York Times, but after a delay of at least a minute. The same thing happened with a page from the Atlantic--it took so long to connect I thought it wasn't going to. Sometimes if I leave the tab trying to connect for 10 or 15 minutes, I'll come back and find a draft, but not always. This behavior started sometime yesterday.

On the bright side, I do now see a delete button for snaps in tribes on mobile. Thank you!

Certain pages actively go out of their way to block any sort of javascript used in bookmarklet type functionality. There is no way around it unfortunately. Other timeout issues may be caused by connection problems, we spent a considerable amount of time going over the bookmarklet functionality not too long ago, and have greatly reduced the amount of time outs. If you can send me some link examples for me that are causing you issues, I will be more than happy to test those out and see what can be done.

No, there was a definitely slowdown between yesterday morning and this morning on the sites I snap regularly. It was so bad this morning, I checked my connection speed to make sure it wasn't on my end (it wasn't). And it wasn't just one site, but pretty much everything I tried, to the point I simply gave up trying to share anything on Snapzu.

How about now? Is there still a slowdown? Every time we do a batch update, many things need to be re-cached and the process can last for about 2 hours. During this time, certain operations can take a bit longer.

It seems slower--about 15 seconds to connect--but nothing like last night or this morning. If I have any more URLs that time out completely, I'll let you know.

It gives me new hope that, one bright new day, there will be a cropping button there when I sit down at the kitchen table notebook.

I will have a look into this and see what we can do to remedy the issue. We will also make some mobile layout modifications to hopefully fix a few of the fringe issues that seem to be happening with smaller screens. I'll update this thread once I spoken with the front end dev in regards to these.

Ok, /u/kxh, would you be able to take full size screenshots that show everything in regards to the layout so that I can have our front end dev have a look at what may be causing this issue? I would appreciate it very much.

Edit: Also, it would be super helpful if you gave me some additional info, ie. Resolution, OS, Browser. Thanks.

Strangely, when I examine the problem, it only seems to happen with snaps from some users. Here are some snaps from 3 different users. The problem only occurs for 2. gladsdotter 1097 × 676 (occurs), drunkenninja 1098 × 679 (occurs), ethelschindler 1098 × 679 (doesn't occur). I thought it might be username length, but it doesn't seem so. Maybe it's level, as in level 50 users? It doesn't seem to happen with other level users. That's strange.

I tried to take the whole browser window contents. I am running a MacBook Air 13" non-retina (1440 x 900) with the latest Firefox (53.0.3 (64-bit) multiuser mode. I never, or hardy ever, run my browser full screen.
